"Open Design development is to hardware what Open Source development is to software, but retains shared ownership as means to create the value required to capitalize the collaborative design effort."
I am an inventor, a concept, big picture guy who envisions a technical solution to the issue of global warming. More specifically how an apparatus can be designed and built that uses solar energy to harvest carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and renders it into useful substances. If we can do this there is hope that the effects of global climate change might be mitigated and the implications and capabilities of the technology will carry the next generation of humanity into a future filled with prosperity and possibilities.
I offer to this effort the best of my heart and mind, but realize that what is undertaken here can only be accomplished in collaboration with other hearts and minds. It is a technically complex undertaking that traverses numerous arts and sciences requiring the contributions of many bright minds and loving hearts. This website is a place to gather and give our best to the future. What has been planted here is a seed that can see itself as a great tree spreading strong branches as protection against a gathering storm. The tree grows and is nurtured by contributions of knowledge, expertise, insight, wisdom, innovation and treasure. We will train, manage and prune its new branches together. Our objective is to produce solutions that reward our contributions and benefit the total of humanity.
Here there are ways for everyone to honor humanity with a contribution in the hope of avoiding perhaps the most omni-dangerous crisis the global community has ever faced. If we can help; we must try and be assured that our efforts are worthy and noble. Our hearts reveal it and our minds provide the capability to fulfill the greatest honor: service to the future of humanity and our earth.
Join and become part of this historically unique scientific, technical, and financial global collaboration in pursuit of solutions to the most ominous human crisis of the 21st century. The future needs you.
Ultimately "open design" collaboration will result in the need to prototype artifacts, manufacture and distribute the tools we have developed. "Money follows ideas" ownership and the value it creates opens an avenue to the capital required to manifest the efforts of design collaborations as technology: products and tools. Investors in technology are sophisticated and in a real sense the technology will "speak for itself". The goal of open design collaboration is to provide a means for focusing individual intellectual abilities on a problem and render a technological solution that has utility and successfully responds to the problem. Contributors to this successful technology share the value created as owners and potentially find financial rewards in the equity they have helped create.
Ownership and equity is shared between the general and limited partners in this venture. The general partner is the inventor and holds at least 60% of the value of the partnership (6000 shares). The limited partners are design collaborators and investors holding up to 40% of the value of the partnership (4000 shares).
The general partner assumes the following responsibilities: Management of the development of technology, management of business and negotiations, management of intellectual property and patents, financial accounting and transparency, management and maintenance of the website and communications, management of collaborative awards and investment by limited partners.
Limited partners are partners who have made technical or financial contributions to the open design collaboration that in the judgment of the general partner are significant in material importance to the overall success of the venture and therefore are have earned the award of a share or shares in the ownership and equity of the venture. There are two classes of limited partners design collaborators and investors.
Design contributions must be materially specific to the development of the technological concept. They must be clearly articulated, documented and submitted for review in the following manner. They must include the contributors name and email address. The area of contribution must be cited, the prior art in the area of contribution must be reviewed, the type of contribution must be identified, the contribution must be described in operation and function, the contribution shall be substantially documented, a narrative argument for the advantages of the contribution must be made. Design contributions are presented in an effort to further the technology and earn an award. Awards are made at the discretion and judgment of the general partner as materially significant to the successful development of the technology.
Design contributions can be made in two categories: functional and innovative. Functional design contributions are designated as material improvements: technical improvements affecting a component of the apparatus for example material type, size, shape, additional component, joining method or means, electronic control circuits, mechanical gears or motors. Functional design contributions maybe awarded between two and five shares in the limited partnership.
Innovative design improvements are designated as technical improvements affecting operation of the apparatus for example photonic design, concentrator design, quantum efficiency, chemical reductions, optics, process dynamics.
Innovative design contributions maybe awarded between twenty and fifty shares in the limited partnership.
Investment contributions provide the financial means to support the effort and purchase or contract for services that are required but not available from design collaboration and contribution. Investors can purchase shares of in the limited partnership. The current value per share is $200.
Fairness is critical to the success of this venture and the success of the venture is critical to humanity and the future. Therefore a means for appeal and fair review is imperative. The appeal process is simple. Any design collaborator who makes a design submission in pursuit of being awarded shares as a limited partner can dispute the decision of the general partner and request a peer review by registered members of the design community. The peer review shall be conducted by first, an email announcement to the members, then a 30 day period during which a quorum of not less then ten percent is call to review, a disputed design submission may be awarded no less the two shares by a two-thirds vote of the quorum. Cases for technical peer review shall be viewable at a designated forum within this website and the details of this procedure shall be satisfactory and in keeping with the guidelines of technical and/or scientific peer review. Judgment of the quorum shall be final.
The general partner anticipates pursuing technical prizes that maybe be awarded for the development of this type of technology. Awards from winning technical prizes shall be shared with the limited partners in a ratio of 5 to 1. (One share valued at $200 would earn a $1000 portion of any technology prize award.)
The general partner will, to the extent that is practical, make all financial information relating to the progress of this venture available to the registered members.
Periodically detailed income and expense statements will be posted and updated on this web site. Additionally a schedule detailing ownership will be maintained and the partners and shares owned by individual partners will be listed.
